Port Canaveral Welcomes Princess Cruises’ Sky Princess

Sky Princess - Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral has solidified its status as a premier East Coast homeport with the grand arrival of the Sky Princess, the newest and largest Princess Cruises vessel to operate a full winter season from Central Florida. This monumental addition significantly bolsters the Port’s lineup, following the successful inaugural seasonal run of the Caribbean Princess last year, which reintroduced the “Love Boat” brand to the region.

Port Canaveral CEO Capt. John Murray stated:

“Princess Cruises is a valued partner and we’re very proud of the success they’ve had sailing from our Port,” “Sky Princess is a great addition to the lineup of cruise options from Central Florida. We look forward to delivering a high-quality guest experience for everyone sailing on this stunning new ship.”

The 3,660-passenger Sky Princess is set to embark on a series of six- and eight-day Caribbean voyages, immediately capitalizing on the convenience of the Space Coast for vacationers. The partnership signals strong confidence in the Port, with plans already underway for Caribbean Princess to return and join Sky Princess for Caribbean and Bahamian sailings in 2026.

The Vessel: Sky Princess and the Royal-Class Experience
The 141,000-ton Sky Princess, part of Princess Cruises’ highly popular Royal-Class, debuted in 2019 and is engineered for a premium, personalized cruise experience. The ship is also a flagship for the MedallionClass technology, which facilitates personalized services like expedited boarding, on-demand food and beverage delivery anywhere on the ship, and keyless stateroom access.

Key features and amenities include:

Dining Excellence: Guests can indulge in specialty venues like The Crown Grille steakhouse, the innovative seafood eatery The Catch by Rudi, and Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria. Beyond the main dining rooms, passengers enjoy casual options and signature Princess offerings like the International Café in the bustling Piazza.

Luxury Accommodations: The ship features 1,830 staterooms, over 400 of which are luxurious suites. The most notable are the exclusive Sky Suites, which can accommodate up to five guests and feature the largest balconies at sea, often offering panoramic views and dedicated butler service.

Entertainment & Relaxation: Entertainment ranges from dazzling stage productions in the Princess Theater to intimate performances in the Vista Lounge and live music in the iconic, European-inspired Piazza. For relaxation, guests can visit the tranquil Lotus Spa and its exclusive thermal suite, The Enclave, or enjoy movies poolside under the stars.

Port Canaveral: A Strategic Homeport
Port Canaveral’s appeal goes beyond its state-of-the-art facilities; it is a critical hub for the cruise industry:

Global Rank and Investment: Ranked as the world’s second busiest cruise port, Port Canaveral owes its success to its easy accessibility and continuous infrastructure investment. The Port is currently engaged in a multi-million dollar capital improvement plan that includes expanding cruise terminals and upgrading adjacent parking structures to accommodate the world’s largest and newest vessels, like the Sky Princess.

The Drive-to Market Advantage: Approximately 75% of guests arriving at the Port choose to drive, making it a leading “drive-to” market. The Port’s central location and extensive parking facilities (with nearly 14,000 parking spaces) streamline the embarkation and debarkation process, significantly enhancing the guest experience.

The Space Coast Gateway: Cruising from Port Canaveral offers a unique pre- and post-cruise vacation opportunity. The Port is minutes away from world-famous attractions like the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, and a short drive from Orlando’s theme parks, giving travelers a “two-in-one” vacation.
